The Last Temptation of Christ is a 1988 film directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a film adaptation of the controversial 1960 novel of the same name by Nikos Kazantzakis. It stars Willem Dafoe as Jesus Christ, Harvey Keitel as Judas Iscariot, Barbara Hershey as Mary Magdalene, David Bowie as Pontius Pilate, and Harry Dean Stanton as Paul. The film was shot entirely in Morocco.

Like the novel, the film depicts the life of Jesus Christ, and its central thesis is that Jesus, while free from sin, was still subject to every form of temptation that humans face, including fear, doubt, depression, reluctance and lust. This results in the book and film depicting Christ being tempted by imagining himself engaged in sexual activities, a notion that has caused outrage from some Christians. The movie includes a disclaimer explaining that it departs from the commonly-accepted Biblical portrayal of Jesus’ life, and that it is not intended to be an exact recreation of the events detailed in the Gospels.

The film received an Academy Award nomination for Martin Scorsese as Best Director.

Saints and Soldiers is a war film released by Excel Entertainment Group, a Mormon film company in August, 2004. The movie is about a small group of soldiers who are trapped deep behind enemy lines following the infamous Malmedy massacre that took place during World War II’s Battle of the Bulge. The soldiers have vital enemy intelligence in their possession and decide to deliver it to the front lines, over 20 miles away. Success would require surviving the roving German troops and the frigid Ardennes forest. Armed with only one rifle, the men meet obstacle after obstacle, and must deal with the challenges, as well as the tension between their conflicting emotions. Things get increasingly more desperate until the climactic showdown with the German Army that tests the courage, honor, and camaraderie of the men.

Fatal Attraction is a 1987 thriller about a married man who has a weekend affair with a woman who refuses to allow it to end and who becomes obsessed with him. It stars Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer. It was directed by Adrian Lyne. The film was adapted by James Dearden and Nicholas Meyer from an earlier short film by Dearden for British TV entitled Diversion. The movie closely follows the plot of Play Misty for Me (1970).

Fatal Attraction was a smash hit, becoming the second highest grossing film of 1987 in the United States and hugely popular internationally. Critics were enthusiastic about the film, and it received six Academy Award nominations, including that for Best Picture. The character of Alex Forrest has been cited as a notable film example of a person with borderline personality disorder. This film also gave birth to the phrase ‘bunny boiler’.

It is directed by Larry Leker and Paul Sabella, and features the voices of Charlie Sheen, Sheena Easton, Dom DeLuise and George Hearn. The film was released on March 29, 1996. Don Bluth, the director of the original film, had no involvement with the sequel. It was the second and final theatrical sequel to a Don Bluth production; the first being An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. It was MGM’s last theatrically-released animated film until 2006′s Arthur and the Minimoys (known in North America as Arthur and the Invisibles).

Eddie Murphy Raw (1987) is an American stand-up comedy film directed by Robert Townsend and starring Eddie Murphy. It was Murphy’s second feature stand-up video, following Eddie Murphy Delirious. The 90 minute show was filmed in New York City’s Felt Forum, the venue in the Madison Square Garden complex now called The WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden. According to The-Movie-Times.com, the film grossed a total of $50,504,000.

Eddie Murphy’s ‘It wasn’t me’ Sketch influenced the Shaggy single of the same name[citation needed].

At the time of its release, Eddie Murphy Raw contained the most uses of the word “fuck” ever in a feature-length film, surpassing Scarface. It remained so until the release of Goodfellas in 1990, but still contains most uses of the word “fuck” in an 80s film.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a 1998 British crime film directed and written by Guy Ritchie. The story is a heist film involving a self-confident young card sharp who loses £500,000 to a powerful crime lord in a rigged game of three card brag. In order to pay off his debts, he and his friends decide to rob a small-time gang who happen to be operating out of the flat next door. The film garnered Guy Ritchie international acclaim, and introduced actors Vinnie Jones, a former Welsh international football player, and Jason Statham, to worldwide audiences.

In 2000, Ritchie won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Motion Picture Screenplay. In 2004, the magazine Total Film named Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels the 38th greatest British film of all time.
